Riwa Komatsubara
Riwa's life has been split in almost equal amounts of time between three countries: Japan, the US and the UK. A native of Japan, she spent her formative years in Tokyo, until she moved with her family to Washington DC as a teenager. Her love of language and storytelling led her to study English literature and film, and eventually saw her landing a career in the media. Based in London since the 1990's, where she started off as a local reporter for the UK bureau of the Yomiuri Shimbun, Japan's leading broadsheet newspaper. Since then Riwa became involved in radio and television and, when in London, works as a freelance director and script writer. Whilst searching for a way to re-acquaint herself with her homeland and its beautiful countryside, she discovered Walk Japan and joined our team of tour leaders in the spring of 2008.
