National Geographic Adventure has rated Walk Japan as one of the 'Best Adventure Travel Companies on Earth' and we are delighted. This honour follows hard on the heels of Rough Guides Recommendation 2008 (See November 2008 below). Over the years everyone at Walk Japan has worked hard to always provide the best tours available in Japan. The recognition given to us by both National Geographic and Rough Guides are ones we will continue to live up to and improve upon. Please look out for new tours and developments at Walk Japan in 2009. Walk Japan's National Geographic Adventure profileNovember 2008

Walk Japan has begun a project in Kunisaki to revitalise a woodland, which was overrun by bamboo. The first stage of clearing the bamboo is now largely complete. In the autumn this year, we will begin planting saplings and begin the process of creating a more balanced natural habitat. As the project develops we will be providing more information. In the meantime, photographs of the work so far can be seen at Community project.February 2008

We have revised our Hokkaido Hike tour, which is now longer at 11 days and ten nights. The extra day allows us to spend the night by the shores of Lake Akan, another haven of Hokkaido's widlife, and include a climb of Mt. Me-Akan, an active volcano. For full details please look at the new Hokkaido Hike ItineraryFebruary 2007
We have produced this new web site, which we think you will find not only useful but also interesting. Of course, we also hope it helps convince you that Walk Japan provides the best tours of Japan. Please contact Walk Japan and let us know what you think.
Our Nakasendo Way tour now completes the whole journey between Kyoto and Tokyo. In Kyoto we visit Sanjo-ohashi bridge, the beginning of the old highway. And we now finish the tour, appropriately, at Nihonbashi bridge, the Nakasendo's destination in the capital. We have included another day of walking on the Nakasendo with a visit to Karuizawa, an old post town and now an up market resort, for a walk over one of the highest passes of the whole route.
We have added another day to the Kunisaki Trek. The extra time allows us to visit the charming island of Hime-shima, spend more time at an atmospheric and remote temple, and generally have more time to fully enjoy the beauty of this forgotten part of Japan. And, making it an even better tour, we have held the price to 2006 levels.
Our latest tour, the Hokkaido Hike, is an exploration of the flora and fauna of this very different part of Japan. Hiking up, around and between volcanoes, the focus of Hokkaido's spectacular scenery, we delve into Japan's grand scale wilderness. All topped off with an abundance of hot springs and great food.
